These were the parting words of Gautama Buddha to his pupils who were seeking guidance on would they manage after his demise. it essentially means that look inside yourself. There is a divine light in all of us and if only we develop the means to communicate with it, it can show us the path. It will manifest itself in illuminating the darkness( Maya) and show us the correct path. So, be your own light .......
